Strategic HR Management and Planning

Strategic planning and strategic management, although they may sound similar, they are two distinct steps of a very important procedure: fulfilling a company's long-term objectives. The process used to determine an organization's direction is called strategic planning (Kling, 2018)

Strategic management, on the other hand, is the complete procedure for achieving that objective, from planning to implementing. Managing action plans, initiatives, and the strategic plan's lifecycle is essential to achieving your company's long-term goals (Kling, 2018).

The importance of bringing HR to the table in strategic planning

Each employee contributes to strategic management

Prioritization shouldn't be overlooked, even though measurements and communication are two important components of strategic management. You need to strike a balance between strategy and routine work since you can't expect your employees to perform two full-time jobs. Otherwise, production will stall and your strategy will be for naught. Set priorities for your objectives and action plans and create a timetable that includes your regular work (Kling, 2018).

Strategic planning and human resources

All the resources needed for successful organizational activities are planned, including the process of deciding on organizational goals, how to attain them, and tactics as a result. Establishing the organization's long-term objectives and making decisions based on anticipated means of accomplishing those goals constitute strategic planning. In other words, strategic planning is the methodical, planned process of developing plans that determine the direction of activities of an organization within the legal framework. The strategic planning process may be carried out once or even twice a year in a series of gradual steps by taking into consideration the mission, vision, values, environmental scan, goals, strategies, responsibilities, timelines, budgets, etc. The scheduling for this process depends on the nature, organizational needs, and immediate external environment. In other words, planning may only be done once a year and in specific areas if a company has been operating in a stable market for a long time. Every staff and human resource management program uses human resource planning in the first stages since it is a procedure for determining the demand and estimating the quantity and type of supplies that will be needed to meet it. Strategic planning, institutional policies, and human resource management are all closely related. It is the primary instrument used to link the programs and objectives of human resources to the goals of the organization. Strategic planning and human resource planning are closely related, as seen in Figure 2 (Bagheri, 2016).

Conclusion

In order to foresee and reach long-term objectives, a corporation must engage in strategic planning. Additionally, a company's mission statement acts as the organization's purpose and outlines its future plans. The idea of strategic human resource management offers guidance on how to lay the groundwork for an organization's preparation by developing an organizational structure, design, culture, system thinking, suitable communication tactics, and a vision.
